One to Follow | @LEE_KRISTINE

Next up in our "One to Follow" series, is the wonderful Instagram account belonging to @Lee_Kristine. Read on to see why we adore this sweet mama and her darling photos.

hi! my name is kristine and i live in victoria, a small city on the west coast of canada, with my two daughters, hubby and dog. our city can be a little sleepy at times, but we are surrounded by the ocean and parks and now that i have a family i really appreciate the relaxed lifestyle. after having my second daughter in 2014, i decided to take an extended break from the corporate world to immerse myself into the 'mama life'. in my previous life, i had a fulfilling career at an advertising agency where I worked for almost 10 years. i received my bachelor of commerce and always had a passion for marketing which lead me to that position. but, when i was working i found it hard to be present in my daughters life. i really wanted to take some time to focus on raising our children & to develop our family values. i never thought i would say this, but i am truly happy at home taking care of my family and i do feel fullfilled. i find a big part of this happiness comes when i find balance in my days and connecting with other moms. i always try to fit in some sort of exercise and try to make clean meals for my family. i feel that the job of stay at home mom comes with a stereo type in our society, which i find frustrating because it's the most challenging job i've ever had. i worked in a very high pressure industry where 12 hour days were the norm, and i have had my share of tough jobs, but nothing compares to this stay at home mom gig.

1. WHAT DOES A WEEK NIGHT MEAL LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR FAMILY?

we try to eat at home most nights because it's easiest for us with the two little ones. also, most restaurants aren't open for dinner when we are ready to eat. we have an early routine! we like to make our meals from scratch so the girls are eating a minimum amount of processed foods. my oldest daughter is obsessed with mexican food so we normally do a mexican dish one night a week. we have about 7 go-to dinners that we rotate through and put different spins on each night. it's one of my goals to come up with new dishes this fall. any ideas? we use our grill almost every night whether it's for chicken, steak or an assortment of vegetables and we always try to have a salad with our dinner.

2. IF YOU HAD AN EXTRA $1000 DOLLARS TO S YOU'D LIKE, WHAT WOULD YOU USE IT FOR?

oh, that's a tough one! i think i would use it on a fun day trip with my family. maybe we would visit vancouver or seattle. we would fill our bellies with yummy food & fit in as many activities as possible. we've done a couple of these adventures in the past and they are exhausting, but so good for the memory tank.

3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INSTAGRAM ACCCOUNT?

i enjoy following creative moms who have a passion for their family and life and show it through their photography. there are just too many to name, but i love seeing the beauty of motherhood through different lenses.

4. IF YOU HAD A FREE EVENING, WITHOUT CHILDREN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

assuming we had a babysitter and both my husband and i both had a free night out, we would head to our favourite little french restaurant for a glass (or two!) of wine, some garlicky mussels, steak and frites. any chance to have a quiet meal out with my husband is a total blessing, and i think we would be happy anywhere!

5. FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP FOR YOUR CHILDREN?

i enjoy supporting other moms who are making unique items from their home while they raise their children. as of late, here are some that i've come to adore:

@vonbonapparel

@free_babes

@briarhandmade

@aliceandames

i also have two friends who are running online stores that i love visiting. they have done a great job of curating some great brands and unique pieces:

@rufusandmurdog

@minimodelgallery

when i can't find what i need from an independent store then my go-to's are always zara and gap.

6. FAVORITE CHILDRENS BOOK?

'love you forever' by robbert munsch

i've never been able to get through it completely without choaking up & i have been reading it for over four years now.
