St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast: Getting into the Irish spirit
St. Patrick’s Day is always a fun day to celebrate in our home, but after the year we have had we decided this was the time to go all out with a balloon filled, tasty treat laden surprise breakfast party.
I enlisted my husband to help with the balloons after underestimating how much time they would take to blow up, but it was well worth the effort when we saw how much joy they brought the kids.
For the fun treats, we picked up a few dozen plain donuts and converted them with rainbow sprinkles, baked up a small funfetti cake and layered on the green icing, and picked up some specialty marshmallows which we topped with Lucky Charms. The drinks were simple vanilla milkshakes with green food colouring and we dressed it up by rimming the glass tops in white chocolate and little sprinkles.
The big highlight for the kids was the St. Patrick’s Day shamrock and rainbow printable. Our oldest loved taking the time to water paint them and cut them out to stink up around our home.
It was a fair bit of work to put together, and even more to clean up afterwords, but it was a really special day that I know our kids will remember.
