Jackalo: Strong Enough for Kids | @MaryandLuna
After years of frustration with clothes that didn’t stand up to her kids’ rough-and-tumble play, Marianna Sachse decided there had to be a better way. She spent the last year researching fabrics and honing her designs to create a line of meticulously constructed, sustainable, and ethical clothes for kids ages 4 and up (and sometimes their moms).
Their designs feature reinforced knees and extra-durable stitching at the seams so parents can let the kids play. Strength means nothing if kids won’t wear the clothes. That’s why all of their fabrics are breathable cotton twill and have elastic waistbands for sensitive dressers (none of those hidden buttons that irritate so many kids!)
Not only are all of their clothes made with independently-certified organic cotton, but the fabrics are Fair For Life certified as well. They are all assembled in Portugal, where high craftsmanship and good working conditions are assured.
Lastly, Jackalo knows that clothing waste is a problem the world over. That’s why they offer a trade-up program for when kids outgrow their clothes. When you send back your used Jackalo™ items, they’ll wash, repair, and resell them (or recycle them responsibly if they can’t be worn) and give you a 20% discount on future purchases.
